Alexa “…will let users do things like request a song, artist, or music for various activities or moods, like “road trips” or “running,” allowing listeners to use voice controls with their music,” says Sarah Perez at TechCrunch.
It follows Alexa’s earlier expansion when Amazon added voice control to its shopping app.
It is a logical product extension as “…playing music is one the top use cases for the Alexa-powered Echo speakers.”
Amazon’s goal is to introduce their virtual assistant into the homes of those who do not have the Echo device.
It’s a way for that uninvolved audience to get accustomed to giving voice commands, in the hopes that they would be more likely to consider buying an Echo speaker once they know how it can help.
